The school — June through September
Learn to read the wind.
Thirty-nine years of teaching on this stretch of river. Thousands of first rides. One very patient team.
Show up dry
Wetsuit, booties, PFD, helmet — it's all here. You bring a towel and sunscreen.
Hear every word
Radio helmets in the water mean coaching in real time, not yelled advice from shore.
Ride fast, sooner
Our progression is tuned for the Gorge's reliable afternoon wind. Average first ride: 97 minutes.
Safety baked in
Rescue boat on station, instructor-to-student ratios max 1:4, and honest go/no-go calls.

Every lesson includes unlimited post-class gear advice. Warning: it's how people end up with a garage full of boards.
Fair questions.
I've never done anything like this. Can I really learn?
Yes — genuinely. Most first-timers are moving under sail or wing within the first session. Big, stable beginner gear and waist-deep teaching water do most of the work.
What if there's no wind on my lesson day?
We reschedule free, or convert to a SUP/tow session on request. In July and August the Gorge rarely fully fails us; in June and September we watch the forecast and call you the evening before.
What ages do you teach?
Camps run 8–14. Adult programs have no upper limit — our oldest first-time windsurf student was 74, and she planed.
Do I need to be a strong swimmer?
You need to be comfortable in deep water. PFDs are mandatory for everyone, and instructors are never more than a few meters away.
